Katy Perry's ex-boyfriend has pledged his unwavering support for her.
Katy and Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy dated for about a year before breaking up in 2009.
Although Travie and Katy have not been an item for a long time, the musician is happy to help her through her current personal struggles.
"There will always be a connection between us. I'll always be there for her," Travie told British newspaper The Mirror. "When you've been in a relationship like ours, you will always make time for that person."
Katy and Travie first met on the set of his band's music video for Cupid's Chokehold, in which the songstress made an appearance.
The pair became very close and Katy stood by his side as Travie battled an addiction with prescription pills.
Although things were tense between them after they called it quits on their relationship, Travis has no hard feelings.
"Katy was there for me through my hard times when things were really bad," Travie explained. "Life goes on. I have regrets about the way we ended. But there are no grudges any more between us. I'll always be there for her, she knows that."
Travie does not hold any judgment on Katy's relationship with Russell.
"Do I think she got married to Russell too fast? When you're feeling it, you're feeling it. You can't help how you feel," Travie declared.
Travie regrets how he and Katy drifted apart. He believes rumours have the power to destroy relationships.
"I've said to Katy stay away from the internet," he said. "It's the biggest mistake I made, and that's when things went sour with us."
Katy's attendance at the Grammys on February 12 will be her first official public appearance since her separation from Russell Brand in December.
