Kollywood’s expectations from CM

3rd August 2011

Stake holders of the Tamil film industry expressed hope that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was aware of problems faced by them and would soon find solutions to their woes.

At a joint meeting of Tamil Film Producers Council and Tamil Film Distributors Federation, the two powerful bodies of Kollywood, the office-bearers expressed concern about the exorbitant fare collected by some theatres.

"The government should intervene and bring ticket prices under control. Because, those making films in small budgets are finding it difficult, due to the huge charges collected by certain theatres," they said.

The meeting was attended by S A Chandrasekaran, Kalaipuli G Sekaran and other key office bearers of both the associations. "We are hopeful that the Chief Minister would consider our requests and give a fresh lease of life to the industry," those who had attended the meeting said.
