India’s premiere fashion and trade event, has announced the dates for its next season. Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 will be held from March 1 to March 6, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. Summer/Resort as a category was introduced by Lakmé Fashion Week to promote the rapidly emerging concept of Resort wear in India. Last season of Summer/Resort (SR 2011) witnessed a 50 percent increase in designer applications underlining the popularity of resort wear in India.
For the first time in India and LFW history, LFW initiated the concept of Talent Box - preview shows at ‘The Source’ supporting stall only designers to exhibit their designs. The Source- Business Hub at LFW grew bigger and better with over 100 stalls and was the centre of all activity. Lakmé Fashion Week in all its grandeur will continue to strive and showcase the best of Indian talent.
At the onset of the new season, Anjana Sharma, Director – Fashion, IMG Reliance said, “The true test of fashion is when collections move from ramp to rack, giving discerning consumers quick and timely access to current trends. We are looking forward to aligning our seasons where designers have enough lead time to maximize business opportunities and meet production deadlines. With Summer/Resort 2012 we aim to further strengthening the concept of resort wear and continue to promote and mentor talent in fashion”.
Farida Kaliyadan, General Manager, Lakmé said, “After a successful conclusion of LFW Winter/Festive 2011 and the tremendous response it garnered, we are happy to announce the dates for our next season. LFW has been an intrinsic part of the Lakmé family and we will continue to support this powerful platform for Indian fashion. As LFW enters another season, we hope to raise the bar by bringing together the best of talent and nurturing them to redefine the future of fashion in India.
