Lil Wayne: album leak is good

2nd September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lil Wayne is "glad" his new album leaked and thinks the illegal disclosure is a "good" sign.

Lil Wayne's newest album The Carter IV was officially released on August 29. Close to a week before its release date the album appeared on the web. Lil Wayne is thinking positively about his album despite its illicit early disclosure.

"We did real good this time, real good," Lil Wayne told MTV News "It just means people want to hear it. I mean, 'cause there're people's albums that come out that can be leaked and don't leak, so I'm glad mines leaked."

Lil Wayne's record label is in good spirits about the leak too. Lil Wayne is signed to his own label Young Money Entertainment, which he established in 2005 with Mack Maine.

Mack doesn't believe sales will be adversely affected by the album's early internet exposure. In fact, Mack believes that the record may perform as well as Lil Wayne's 2008 album Tha Carter III, which sold one million copies in its first week.

"I think we should still do well," Mack Maine told MTV News. "The leak shouldn't have affected it that much. Actually, this is the first time that the albums leaked so close [to the release date]. Tha Carter III leaked two weeks before and we still did [1 million] the first week. So if history repeats itself, we shouldn't have any problems."

According to the Billboard charts The Carter IV will sell an estimated 900,000 copies in its first week. (C) Cover Media
