Lily Allen: Vintage clothing is risky

27th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Lily Allen decided to venture into the world of vintage clothing because shes a risk taker.

The pop-star-turned-businesswoman launched her and half sister Sarah Owens retro boutique, called Lucy In Disguise, earlier this year in Londons Covent Garden district.

So far business is booming, although Lily accepts entering the world of old-school fashion could have been disastrous. Stocking vintage items at the store means Lily has to hunt down the best used items she can find, which she loves doing despite its trickiness.

"But I've always been a risk taker - and that's why I got into vintage. I could collect clothes like there was no tomorrow, getting to Portobello market at 5am to snap up the best bargains, she told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

The reason Lily loves retro fashion is that it allows women to look unique without having to fork out on designer couture. Shes been humiliated in the past after turning up to parties dressed in the same budget robe as fellow revellers. Lily also thinks vintage pieces are of a much better standard to newer items found in the shops.

"One of my 'light bulb' moments came when I went to a Christmas party and five people had the same high street dress on as I had," she explained. "Plus the quality doesn't compare." (C) Cover Media
