(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Liza Minnelli dreamed of becoming an ice skater up until she saw her first Broadway show.
The 65-year-old icon, who released her album Confessions last year, says she had very different ambitions when she was younger.
The actress-and-singer - who is the daughter of Hollywood film director Vincente Minnelli and Judy Garland - always wanted to grace the ice as a performer before realising her theatre dreams.
"When I lived in Hollywood I wanted to be an ice skater. I wanted to right up until I saw my first Broadway show at 13," she told a UK TV show.
Liza, who went to a variety of different schools during her childhood because of her Hollywood star parents, refused to give up when she realised that she wanted a career on Broadway.
The star was overwhelmed after realising her hard work had paid off, when she landed the title role in Flora the Red Menace.
"What I always wanted was to go on Broadway, that was my ambition. I started by learning how to build sets and paper roses and doing all the things you have to do to learn everything about the theatre," she explained. "That was fabulous for me. When I landed Flora the Red Menace I thought I was going to die!"
Liza's life has been full of ups and downs, but she keeps herself motivated. The legendary star keeps busy, to stop herself thinking about the things that get her down at times.
"I always keep going. I'm so curious. If you're curious and grateful you can't be depressed, you don't have time," she added. (C) Cover Media
