Michael Bubl impressed mom with Christmas song

11th November 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Bubl has recalled the first time his mother was "wowed" by his singing ability.

The award-winning Canadian crooner is an international singing sensation, having sold more than 35 million albums and singles worldwide.

Michael says his family didn't realise his vocal talents until he gave a rendition of White Christmas during the festive holidays.

"I guess I was about 12-years-old or something and we were driving from my grandfather and grandmother's house on Christmas Eve we driving home. We were like the Griswolds or something from [comedy film National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation]. We were all singing I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, with every Christmas card I write,'" he recalled in an interview with BBC Breakfast.

"And then I went May your days be merry and bright' and my

whole family turned and went What the hell?'

"That was the moment my mother said to me Wow, we didn't even know that was there.' It was something I kept to myself."

Michael has recently released his fifth studio album entitled Christmas. The 36-year-old singer is thrilled to be producing such a festive record.

"It's a special time for me. My family made it so incredible for us as kids and I'm so sentimental about it now that it's easily my favourite time of year. For me, this is the most important record I would ever make," he revealed.

Michael has discussed the perils of fame. The star finds it embarrassing when people pander to him, and would prefer them to not pay him any attention.

"You become very enabled. You never hear the word no," he explained.

"I have certain rules, like when I'm on a TV show and I finish, I have a rule that when I come off stage, whoever is with me, from stylist to manager, they're not to say, Oh, that was amazing, that was the most amazing thing I've ever seen.' It's cringey.

"It's not true for me." (C) Cover Media
