Nicki Minaj's new album is "looking" for an early 2012 release says Bryan "Birdman" Williams.
The Cash Money Records founder and co-chief executive officer was excited to announce that the singer could be releasing the follow-up to her hit debut Pink Friday very soon.
He confirmed that the Super Bass star was having a great time creating new music for the as yet untitled new record.
"Nicki's back in the studio, so we're looking to drop Nicki in the first quarter," Bryan told Billboard.
Bryan also hinted that Nicki may have a new single out earlier than expected. He doesn't want to hold the star back.
"Maybe this year? I don't know," he said about releasing a single. "We're really thinking it out. But she's in the studio, and we're looking real soon, because she's ready to go and we're ready to go with her."
Pink Friday was a huge commercial and critical success. After its release in November 2010 it peaked at the top of the U.S. Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The singer became the first artist ever to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Her second single, Your Love, reached number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, making the eccentric musician the first female artist to top the chart unaccompanied since Missy Elliott accomplished it with Work It in 2002.
