Natalie Portman fears weird photos

3rd September 2012

Natalie Portman is terrified of making "a weird face" at red carpet events.

The Oscar-winning actress is no stranger to attending glitzy bashes. However, Natalie still worries about striking unflattering poses in front of the cameras. To ensure she avoids bad photos, she tries to remain calm and natural.

"On the red carpet all I think about is not making a weird face because that's inevitably when the camera catches you," she laughed to the latest edition of UK magazine Elle. "I try to speak to people as much as possible so that I can look normal!"

The 31-year-old beauty was born in Jerusalem, Israel. Natalie has dual citizenship for Israel and the US, but has revealed another country has always had a significant influence over her.

"There's a huge French influence on my life. My father grew up in Israel where French music was very popular so he used to play it to me all the time when I was growing up," she explained. "I was named after a 1964 French song, Nathalie, by Gilbert Bcaud; the first film I was ever in, Leon, was directed by the Frenchman Luc Besson; I studied French and I married a Frenchman, Benjamin [Millepied]."
