(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Neve Campbell says she used to burst into tears every time she heard classical music.
The 37-year-old Canadian star has forged a hugely successful acting career, appearing in movies such as The Craft, Wild Things, and most famously the Scream horror franchise.
Neve says acting has never felt like her true vocation though, as she was devastated when a series of injuries in her late teens prevented her from making it as a ballerina. The star was a student at the National Ballet School of Canada when she was a youngster, and says that when she first moved into acting in the 90s playing Julia Salinger in television show Party of Five just hearing the sound of classical music would reduce her to tears.
"I missed dance so much. I was doing Party of Five and I'd only just stopped dancing, so it was still raw. I couldn't even go to watch any dance without getting upset. I couldn't listen to classical music without bursting into tears," she told British newspaper The Guardian.
"I never wanted to be an actor. It was something I found a passion for; it wasn't there immediately."
Neve still has fond memories from her dancing days. The talented star recalls pushing through the intense pain she felt in training to give outstanding performances on stage.
We may not realise it but dancing is a form of meditation," she explained. "To be with your body and to just focus on your body for hours every day; I gave it everything. Oh gosh, it's so painful. You're in pain every day. But what you get is these wonderful moments on stage in front of the audience." (C) Cover Media
