(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nicole Scherzinger is set to play a biblical prostitute in a remake of the Hollywood movie, Jesus Christ Superstar.

The stunning songstress will play Mary Magdalene in the upcoming picture, which is based on the original 1973 film.

Nicole is said to have been in "secret talks" with Andrew Lloyd Webber, the man behind the famous musical which is based very loosely on the Gospel's account of the last week of Jesus' life.

The negotiations have allegedly been taking place over the past six months.

Nicole is a talented singer and dancer and is said to be thrilled about starring in the upcoming project.

"Nicole is a big fan of the songs and was desperate to be involved," a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"She can sing and dance equally well so musicals are a natural step forward."

The film is slated for a 2014 release, but Nicole will apparently appear in a string of stage shows. Movie executives are hoping to put the concerts in motion in order for her to perform some of the tracks from the movie.

Nicole has already launched her assault on Hollywood.

The raven-haired beauty's foray into movies began this year playing "futuristic villain" Lilly in Men in Black III, alongside Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. (C) Cover Media
