No evidence to prove that Salman was driving: 2002 Hit & Run Case

7th August 2015

Salman Khan's lawyer Amit Desai argued in court that there was no evidence to prove that Salman was driving the car that unfortunate night in 2002 and also said that out of the many witnesses in this case, it was nowhere mentioned that he was driving.

Further, Desai also wanted to know the reason why the police didn't interrogate Salman's driver Ashok Singh during the interrogation.

"The word 'interrogated' is very important here…and he also says he has not recorded his (Singh's) statement. What is the purpose of interrogation without recording a statement?" he said.

Desai further added, "If a star witness (Patil) was no more, there were other eye witnesses to throw light on who was driving the car. While the prosecution says there were three people in the car, the defence has argued that there were four…but there is no dispute over the fact that singer Kamaal Singh was also in the same car at the relevant time. Why he has not been examined?"
