No Hollywood influence on 'Jannat 2'

16th March 2012

Recently, the first look of the film 'Jannat 2'  was released online which got a humongous response all over. However, the film which revolves around the arms trafficking and illegal arms trade seemed to be a rip off of the Hollywood flick 'Lord of War'.

Movie enthusiasts couldn't help, but notice a prominent scene in the Hindi film's promo that had a striking resemblance with the opening scene of the aforementioned Hollywood film. Moreover, the similar plot of the films and striking similarities in the scenes further encouraged the comparisons.

It was assumed that the film is heavily inspired from 'Lord of War', but director of 'Jannat 2' Kunal Deshmukh begs to differ. "One, our film is not like Lord of War and if people are looking for that kind of film, they will be disappointed. Yes, that one shot does look like Lord of War but that is my signature shot, I had a similar scene in original Jannat as well", said Kunal.

He further justified his stand by pointing out the differences in the two films, "Thematically, there could be similarities, but Lord of War dealt with international arm trade where as my film is very desi and revolves around the arms trade and gun culture in the capital", added Kunal.
