Orlando Bloom named baby in honour of grandmother

27th April 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Orlando Bloom says the name of his first child is a tribute to his late grandmother.

The actor, who became a father in January this year, revealed the inspiration behind his sons name Flynn.

Orlando said that he was planning to name his first child with wife Miranda Kerr after his beloved grandmother if it was a girl, but when his son arrived he simply adapted it.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean explained why the touching tribute is especially poignant for his family.

"I was convinced we were going to have a girl. Because my grandmother actually passed when Flynn was conceived and she was really dear to my heart, he revealed during an appearance on U.S. TV chat show Live With Regis and Kelly today.

"Evelyn was my grandmother, on my father's side... I was thinking Evelyn. We're going to have a girl, it's going to be called Evelyn. And it was a boy. And so Flynn! Evelyn, Flynn. Flynn, Evelyn." (C) Cover Media
