(Cover) - EN Fashion - Paris Hilton’s legal team say the $35 million lawsuit filed against her by a hair extension company has “no merit”.

Hairtech International filed paperwork alleging fraud and deceit, unjust enrichment and breach of contract in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday. The company signed a promotional deal with the 29-year-old heiress in 2006, but allege she violated the terms of that agreement in 2008 when she was photographed on a night out wearing a competitor’s product.

Hairtech is seeking $35 million in damages from Paris.

The company claims Paris lost them $6.6 million when she failed to appear at a launch party for the Dream Catcher line in June 2007. Paris was in jail in relation to her conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) at the time.

Hairtech also alleges Paris brought them into disrepute by indulging in repeated “chemical abuse, illicit drug use, alcohol abuse as well as other (illegal) debaucheries”.

Paris’ lawyers have now responded to the lawsuit, dismissing it as having “no merit”. The legal team plan to defend Paris against all accusations and are considering counter-suing for damage done to Paris’ reputation by the original lawsuit.

"There is no merit whatsoever to any of these claims," Paris’ spokesman told RadarOnline.com. "We will pursue all of our defences vigorously and any potential counter claims."

Hairtech has refused to comment on the new developments. (C) Cover Media
