Paul McCartney gave The Script masterclass

22nd February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Script were overwhelmed when Sir Paul McCartney agreed to chill out with them.

The Irish band enjoyed global success with their 2008 self-titled debut album which spawned hits including We Cry and The Man Who Cant Be Moved. The group comprising singer Danny O'Donoghue, guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power have attracted a host of famous fans and have continued their assault on the charts with their follow-up album Science & Faith.

Mark has revealed he was left awestruck when Beatles legend Paul took time out to give the band some advice about playing to large crowds.

I think the best advice was from Paul McCartney - that was a massive thing for us, Mark explained during an interview on a British television show. We got a chance to meet McCartney and for us he was the person that you were definitely watching a masterclass right there. He came in and gave us his time, he just chilled out with us and hung out. The things he said about going into massive arenas and playing stadiums but still being able to tell the story of a song, pull the whole audience in and still make it intimate.

These were all the things we were really worried about because we are a small unit.

Paul isnt the only musical superstar to show support for The Script. Fellow Irish rockers U2 have also praised the group and invited them to support them on their tour in 2009.

The Script are grateful for all the time and advice U2 have given them, insisting the exposure has really helped them take off.

U2 have really taken us under their wing and let us tour with them, Mark added. So the fact that they know the power of mentioning a band like us has given us a lot of attention, so that was very nice of them.

The band cant wait to embark on their tour of the UK and Ireland and have promised they will put on a show-stopping performance.

What you are going to see from the shows is a real honest performance, just three lads on stage playing our hearts out, Danny revealed. We are not doing costume changes or having dancers, its all about the music. (C) Cover Media
