Rachcha's set dismantled

1st April 2012

A set erected for the Telugu movie Rachcha at Zero Point in Aliyar Dam was removed on Thursday as it posed a threat to wild animals that frequent the place to quench their thirst. It was earlier feared that colours used on the set would kill the animals and fish.

The set which was erected for a song sequence for Rachcha, had to be dismantled. "The set which is considered harmful to wild animals has now been removed. I gave the order and it was dismantled early this morning," said S Murugesan, sub divisional officer, Public Works Department. Activists said sawdust and colours used for the construction may have polluted the water.

Zero Point, which is 24km from Pollachi, is a haunt for wild animals including the tiger, leopard, dhole, gaur, sambar and spotter deer. The 80 foot long set which was in the shape of a raft was scaring away the wild animals. The shooting of the Ram Charan Teja and Tamannaah starrer Rachcha was scheduled to be held on March 29 and 30.
