Just recently filmmaker Gautham Menon claimed that Ranbir Kapoor was his original choice for his film "Ekk Deewana Tha" that now has Prateik in lead.

He says that when he commenced work on the film he had Ranbir Kapoor in mind and wanted him to star in it. But despite of waiting for months he failed to meet Ranbir Kapoor. According to Gautham, the fact that he is not a very big name in the Hindi Film Industry, his offer was not taken too seriously. He claimed that apart from Ranbir even his manager didn’t pay heed to his offer. Tired with this unruly behavior Gautham finally casted Prateik in the film and is happy with the final product. Similar is the case with the highly acclaimed filmmaker Sudhir Mishra who waited for few months just to meet Ranbir and make him read the script.

He apparently wanted to cast him in his film "Driver" but things never worked out. Filmmaker Raj Kumar Santoshi too wanted to make a sequel of his hit film "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" with him but Ranbir was not too interested in the doing it and hence lost on it as well.
