AIB co-founder and comedian Tanmay Bhat garnered himself into controversies for his controversial video which insulted the two most renowned people of India, the Bharat Ratna awardees, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Bollywood celebs like Riteish Deshmukh, Anupam Kher, Subhash Ghai and many others came out to support Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar. They expressed their furious reactions on various social networking sites. Sachin's wife Anjali Tendulkar also expressed her anger by saying, "Disrespect is not cool neither it's funny…Comedians should understand the differencebetween comedy and insult."

However, Sonam Kapoor came out to support her friend Tanmay. She expressed her support openly in a series of tweets. She Said,

"Dear @thetanmay ,being your friend I know what you say and do is never to offend, but to make people laugh.."

"Don't you guys think there are issues that are more important than @thetanmay snapchat jokes??? I'm in shock with this over reaction!"

"Being living legends I know @sachin_rt and @mangeshkarlata don't even know and care about what's going on!stop spewing hate on their behalf!"

"However, I stand by his right to create such content, just as I support criticism of it in public discourse!"

The video posted by Tanmay on his snapchat  'roasts' Sachin and Lata. The lines like "why the 86-year-old Lata was still alive" and "who was the better player between the 43-year-old Sachin and Virat Kohli" raised a howl of protests and condemnations. It soon went viral and faced criticisms by almost everyone mostly from the Bollywood film industry.
