Robert Pattinson: I'm no analyst

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Robert Pattison admits he is not a great "self-analyst".

The British heartthrob is currently promoting his new movie Cosmopolis. In the film he plays a billionaire Wall Street banker a stark departure from his best known role as a brooding vampire in the Twilight franchise. Despite having played a variety of characters, Robert admits he struggles to compare them to who he really is.

"I'm not the best self-analyst," he said at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday. "I cannot seem to bring anything from my life into my work."

Cosmopolis director David Cronenberg was quick to interject and add to Robert's answer.

"It's a flawed question - trying to make a connection between Rob's life as a celebrity and his character's life," he explained.

The filmmaker went on to reveal his frustration that Robert is constantly asked about Twilight even when promoting other projects. David was happy to step in when comparisons were drawn between his vampire character Edward Cullen and the "blood-sucking capitalist" he plays in his new film.

"You must ignore the baggage. You know it exists. But we're doing a new thing. And you have to forget all that other stuff," David explained. "Robert is a real person with a history and a past. The history and the past is not Twilight. It is Cosmopolis.

"I don't think of my other movies when I'm making this movie. They are irrelevant."

Robert agreed with David's answer and jokingly pointed his thumb at the filmmaker and added, "Ditto". (C) Cover Media
