(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rose Byrne regularly booked tickets home when she started out in Hollywood as life was so tough.

The Australian actress struggled at the beginning of her acting career but has come a long way since those early days. She appears in the critically acclaimed legal TV show Damages and can be seen as Helen in the women-centric comedy Bridesmaids.

"I had times in LA, driving around in my car, sobbing, booking my ticket home, cancelling the ticket, rebooking it," she told Psychologies magazine. "And then a job would materialise, or something to get me to stay. It was hard."

Although Byrne had trouble being far from home, she liked that there was something "glamorous" about being Australian when she first came to the US. But since then several other actors from her homeland have made it big in Hollywood including Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman and Cate Blanchett.

"There are so many of us here," Rose said. "The world's gotten smaller."

Rose explained her confidence in her craft has grown with age. The actress got her first part in a film, Dallas Doll, when she was only 15.

"I started acting quite young, but I'm hesitant to fully endorse myself, because I lack confidence still," she said. "I strive to get better, with each Damages series and each film." (C) Cover Media
