Sam Worthington can get away with being naked outdoors because he's so hairy it looks like he's "wearing a woolly jacket".

The last time the Avatar star strolled outside nude was when he was trying to get an all-over tan. He never gets self-conscience about baring all though as he has enough hair to cover his bits.

"It looks like I'm fully clothed! It's like a brillo pad tuxedo," the Australian star told UK magazine Empire.

Sam, 35, is particularly hairy on his backside. "You can ponytail that sh*t," he laughed.

He also revealed his body rug has earned him the nickname Chewie because he is hairy like Star Wars character Chewbacca.

"I've had the nickname for years, I'm hairy all over," he confessed

The actor also revealed he has so many freckles that it looks like he has a bronzed body.

"I'm freckly so they all joined together and make you look like you have a tan," he joked.

Sam is promoting his new film Man on a Ledge, which is out now.
