Vishal starrer 'Samar', which is being directed by Thiru of 'Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai', is facing a legal hurdle, after a Madurai court issued an interim stay on the film's release.
The court issued the stay order while hearing a petition filed by producer Vijay, who alleged that he had registered the title 'Samar' with the Film and TV Producers Association in 2011.
"We have renewed the title this year too. But we were shocked when we learnt that a film in the similar title is being made by producer Ramesh Thandra", said Vijay.
When the petition came up for hearing, the Judge postponned the case to August 31 for further hearing and issued a notice to producer Ramesh Thandra, besides granting an interim stay on the Vishal starrer.
