(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Shania Twain has married her fianc Frdric Thibaud.

The country singer only announced her engagement to the Swiss-born Nestle businessman a few weeks ago, but the couple have now confirmed they have tied the knot.

Shania and Frdric wed in an intimate ceremony on New Years Day in Puerto Rico.

"They were married at sunset in Rincon, Puerto Rico, in front of 40 of their closest family and friends," a representative told People magazine.

It is believed Frdric presented Shania with a $100,000 three-carat emerald-cut diamond ring which he had helped to design - in October, but they decided to keep their happy news a secret until December. Shania, 45, revealed her happiness at the impending nuptials on her personal website.

Frdric Nicolas Thibaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship, she said. Fred and I are happy to announce our engagement!

The wedding comes two and a half years after Shania was left heartbroken when her then-husband Robert John Mutt Lange allegedly had an affair with one of the stars best friends and house manager, Marie-Anne Thibaud.

However, the singer is said to be happier than ever after falling in love with Frdric, 40 who was married to Marie-Anne.

The pair confirmed they were dating in August 2009, when Shania called Frdric a dear friend and a true gentleman. (C) Cover Media
