Simon Le Bon: Id play at weddings

10th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Simon Le Bon says Duran Duran would be willing to play at weddings as long as they were offered enough money.

The British New Wave band were one of the most successful acts in the 1980s, and enjoyed success with songs including Rio, Girls on Film, The Wild Boys and A View to a Kill.

Duran Duran are making a fresh assault on the music charts with their new album All You Need Is Now and have revealed they still have a strong fan base. In fact, the group regularly receive invitations to perform at private events and lead singer Simon has revealed they would consider appearing if the price was right.

All the time, Simon replied when asked if Duran Duran are still asked to play private shows. Ten years ago, it was assumed bands would only play stadiums. But its become a much bigger part of our business. Its not just Russian oligarchs. Plenty of people fancy having a band at their wedding or party. Offer us the right fee and well do it.

Duran Durans latest album was produced by Mark Ronson, who previously revealed he is a huge fan of the band. Simon was impressed by Marks enthusiasm, as well as his endless stream of ideas on how to make the new material a hit.

Last Friday, Simon told Q magazine when asked about the last time he saw Mark. We were finishing off the vocals on the new Duran Duran album. Mark produced the record. His enthusiasm for Duran was incredible, but very specific. He wanted to make the follow-up to [1982s] Rio. He felt we had suffered from difficult third album syndrome, rather than the more common complaint: difficult second album syndrome. (C) Cover Media
