(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Snoop Dogg says he wants to make some greatness with R. Kelly.

The American rapper has teamed up with R&B star R. Kelly to produce the track Platinum, which will be featured on his 11th studio album Doggumentary.

The 39-year-old has revealed his and R. Kelly's approach to music and their mutual admiration for each other made their partnership a natural progression.

"I think me and Kells understand who we are and what we do to make each other better," Snoop told MTV. "We wanna be great. We don't wanna make cool records. Because any time I hear R. Kelly, he's great. Whenever he hears Snoop Dogg, I'm great. So why not come together and make some greatness?"

Snoop whose career spans two decades - explained his admiration for R Kelly. The rapper is not shy of collaborating with fellow artists. He teamed up with chart sensation Katy Perry on the first single from her second album, California Gurls, which was released in May of last year.

The music producer whose music career began in 1992 after his release from prison when he was discovered by Dr. Dre says he appreciated the deep love R. Kelly has for music, even if some people dont understand it.

"He has a deep love for music, and sometimes he goes over the head of the people that's listening just like myself, because we're too in-depth with music. We don't just listen to our genre. We find ourselves enjoying all walks of music."

The song almost didn't make the final cut, as Snoop had finished up recording the album, but the talented pair initially sketched a rough demo which led them to finally completing the record. (C) Cover Media
