The Modern Family star is in Mexico with lots of friends and family to celebrate her 40th birthday.

And Wonderwall claims that the Columbian beauty's on-again, off-again boyfriend Nick Loeb has popped the question.

"She is engaged," a source close to Sofia told the site.

Sofia was pictured on Monday night toasting the birthday of her friend Fernando Fiore who she has worked with in the past and there was a huge diamond sparkler on her engagement finger.

She and Nick dated for two years but split in May. They got back together just a few weeks later and he has joined the actress for her milestone celebrations.

The marriage would be the second for Sofia who was married for two years between 1991 and 1993 to Joe Gonzalez. They have a 20-year-old son together, Manolo. (C) Cover Media
