Sophie Cranston designing Kate Middleton gown?

18th April 2011

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Reports have claimed Kate Middleton's bridal gown is being designed by Sophie Cranston of the Liblula label.

Sophie who is still a relatively unknown name has emerged as a surprise candidate for the coveted commission to make the bride-to-bes highly anticipated wedding dress when she walks down the aisle in Westminster Abbey in London on April 29.

The 34-year-old Londoner who was given the Designer of the Year Award at London's Graduate Fashion Week in 1999 has previously worked for Alexander McQueen, whose creative director, Sarah Burton, is currently the bookmakers' favourite to design Kates wedding dress.

Kate has long been a fan of the Liblula founder and last January wore one of the designers pieces to a wedding, looking stunning in a vintage-inspired black velvet dress coat with a diamante clasp.

Since launching her label in 2002, Sophie has attracted other famous fans, including British actress Emma Watson. Her gown for bride-to-be Kate is said to be almost complete, according to reports in the Huffington Post.

Sophie was unavailable for comment yesterday. (C) Cover Media
