SRK, Priyanka and Rishi react on Salman Khan's controversial comment

1st July 2016

Salman Khan was slammed from almost every corner of the country for the 'rape women' comment he made recently in the media while sharing his experience of shooting for his Eid release film 'Sultan.' He said that "When I used to walk out of the ring, after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn't walk straight." While everyone criticized the actor, most of the bollywood celebs chose to keep their reaction neutral.

One such neutral response came from the baadshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Known for his witty humor and excellent word power, the actor speaks in a rather straight forward way. At an event yesterday, he was asked to comment on Salman's controversial comment. To which the actor replied, "In the last few years I have come to realise that I have made so many inappropriate comments myself. I don't think I am someone to sit in judgement for anybody else's comment. To be really honest, it is not about taking sides. I myself speak such a lot (inappropriately), who am I to judge him on this? Personally speaking, I don't think I am anyone to comment on this. I am so inappropriate myself. I have said some really wrong things also…"

Recently when Priyanka Chopra was asked about the same, the actress gave a stern reply and highlighted the issue of rape in India which is growing with each passing day. She said, "First of all, you should be asking the person who made this comment. It is very important for the media and for we as women to use our power and talk about the real problem which is happening in India every single day to so many women instead of pushing a controversy for a headline, which is unfair. There is so much reality happening like a brutal rape case in Bihar took place – why is no one talking about the issue? A lot has been said about the Salman issue, I don't want to add to the noise. I would rather bring notice on real issues. The real problem is us talking about how to treat out women better in India and how to treat women better generally."

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor also expressed his views about the ongoing controversy. He said, "Let me give you an example. There was a time when Dara Singh used to make films. He was called the tough man. So the street language was, 'apne aapko bada dara singh samajhta hai.' Today, in our local language and vocabulary, I agree it's wrong, we say sometimes we are raped yar. You say you are spaced out, doesn't mean you are in space or I am screwed, you aren't actually screwed. You don't mean it. I would say it is improper and at the wrong moment."
