U2 celebrate end of tour

2nd August 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - U2 partied until 8.30am this weekend to celebrate the end of their world tour.

The Irish rock band started their 360 Tour in 2009, and played the final show in Canada towards the end of last month. It consisted of 110 performances in 30 countries over 26 months, and has been named the biggest series of concerts ever by Billboard after making over $736 million.

The group were keen to toast their success having taken to the stage for the final time, and decided to throw a lavish party in New York. It took place at the Spotted Pig eatery in the West Village, with lead singer Bono and guitarist The Edge seen leaving at 8.30am on Sunday morning. It's thought fellow bandmates Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr. were also in attendance at the party, which kicked off at 3.30am.

"People were doing quadruple takes when U2 came out of the bar in their rock 'n' roll clothes," an onlooker told New York Post.

A number of expensive vehicles were waiting to take the musicians away, all complete with drivers. Most of them were asleep when the rockers finally left the Spotted Pig, so went to great lengths to ensure they were ready to drive away immediately.

"There were SUVs with the drivers sleeping in the front. When the band came out, the drivers slapped themselves awake and drove off," the source added. (C) Cover Media
