Vidal Sassoon: Good hair gives you confidence

7th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Vidal Sassoon thinks the right hairstyle can made a woman walk differently.

The legendary stylist is renowned for revolutionising the hair industry in the 60s. He is the man behind Mia Farrow?s iconic crop in 1968 movie Rosemary?s Baby, and also styled British supermodel Twiggy?s locks. Vida is proud of the work he has done in his life, explaining he took a totally new approach to cutting hair when he started out.

?I was inspired by architecture. You know, bone structure and cutting shapes into that bone structure,? he said. ?That?s what it was all about for me ? precision. So that when they leave they would have a twinkle in their eye and maybe even walk differently.?

Vidal made hairdressing his life, and freely admits putting all his ?energies? into his career.

He was born and raised in London, and spent time in an orphanage as a child as his mother couldn?t afford to look after him. He still insists he was ?lucky? to have the childhood he did, explaining it was one of the reasons he went on to revolutionise the styling world.

?From my point of view I wanted society and showbiz to sit with nurses and office girls,? he explained on a UK television show. ?It was very eclectic.? (C) Cover Media
