There is an important and interesting reason behind Rajinikanth choosing 'Rana' as the title of his next film. According to sources, it was the nick name of the Superstar's father, whose official name is Ramoji Rao.

'"That's why Rajini opted for the title 'Rana'. Moreover it sounded as a right choice for a period film, which is about kings. Now that the Superstar is back home after successfully undergoing treatment in Singapore, the shooting will start in the first week of October," say sources.

Directed by K S Ravikumar and produced by Eros International in association with Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios, 'Rana' has Deepika Padukone opposite Rajinikanth. A R Rahman is scoring the music.

Sources have it that the Oscar-Grammy winner has composed four songs in the film and is waiting for Rajini's approval. The Superstar is currently on rest, spending time by doing meditation, reading books and playing with grandsons Linga and Yathra.
