Abhishek Dogra directorial 'FryDay' is surely a surprise and one of the entertaining films of the year to sum up. To be Honest ! Going by the trailer we personally felt this would be a disaster but that's literally not the case with this Varun Sharma and Govinda starrer. This is a joy ride and serves you a Govinda from the 90's and his touch to this fresh character remain with us.
The central character of the film is Varun Sharma [Rajiv Chabbra] a salesman following leads to complete his target of fitting water purifiers. Deprived in love, and has one last chance to save his job by setting up one customer by Fryday as his boss warns him. Govinda plays the role of Gagan a theatre actor performing regular plays and his introduction by taking away other artist's dialogues is quite hilarious. Even after being married to a NGO activist 'Bela' played by Prabhleen Sandhu who doesn't bestow ample of time for their personal space keeping her profession at the first place, it is Gagan who is in the midst of an extra-marital affair. A love interest, or an extra-inning whatsoever we may call and this woman is Bindu [Digangana Suryavanshi]. Even she has a quirky backstory, as she is married to a man named Rangpal [Rajesh Sharma] who is much older to her.
Watering the flower of infidelity Gagan and Bindu get some 'lovie-dovie' time as his wife moves to Shimla for some official work. That's when the fare full of mess surrounds them. 'Purifier wala' Chabbra [Varun] arrives at the same place and the encounters with a thief played by Brijendra Kala; prospers the narrative without any boredom. Sanjay Mishra has a cameo to play as a guru who enlightens depressed Rajiv who is now a philosophical man wearing a smile all the time. For a moment we felt the film could have been a perfect fit for 'No Entry 2' but the title resonates the day to be precise. The climax could have been better but the things are winding up quite convincingly. Loud laughs during the press screening are the evidence proof that the film is kind of enjoyable and yes all the Govinda fans get their dues after a long time.
There are only two songs in this entertaining laugh ride. 'Badey Chotey' by Mika Singh and Ankit Tiwari picturised on the two lead Varun and Govinda. Another one appears in the end credit scene 'Jimmy Choo' featuring Natasa Stankovic who is seen grooving with Govinda and Varun Sharma in a discotheque.
Abhishek Dogra who has last helmed 2015 film 'Dolly ki Doli' has executed a cutting-edge comedy putting forth a team effort. As this film surely stands because of its writers. Story by Rajeev Kaul is fine and accessible but the screenwriting by Rajeev along with Manu Rishi Chadha is the match winner. The heart of this comedy-drama is the quirky dialogues and punches which are delivered so smoothly by Govinda and credit goes Manu Rishi Chadha and Meghvrat Singh Gurjar for penning some squeaky laughable lines.
'FryDay' is surely Govinda's comeback film and it looks like it was tailormade for him. This won't disappoint you and don't shy to laugh out loud.
