Shah Rukh Khan's 'Swades' completes 12 years of its release

Shah Rukh Khan, who is known as the Baadshah of Bollywood has truly owned the title with his hard core acting and his remarkable contribution to Indian Cinema. His performances in various film are so lively that they are remembered even in today's date. Today on December 17, 2016 SRK's film 'Swades' completed 12 years of it's release. 'Swades' was the first film which was shot in the interiors of NASA. It also starred Gayatri Joshi opposite SRK.

SRK today went down the memory lane and shared a picture of himself with Ashutosh Gowariker and captioned it as, "Can't be a better day to welcome my friend who has given me one of my best films ever. Give him love @ashgowariker."

Just before this he tweeted, "Yeh jo Des hai mera Swades hai mera..Can’t thx Ashutosh enuff for such a lovely film.Whole cast/crew had such faith in goodness & Indianness." Even Shabana Azmi tweeted, "And the songs by @arrahman and @Javedakhtarjadu are beyond compare. I get goosebumps everytime i hear them.. ye tara wo tara yunhi chalachal."

SRK played the character of Mohan Bhargava, an NRI working with NASA who returns to his motherland India to perform his duties as an Indian. It also has a hard-hitting dialogue which strikes in our mind even today- "Main nahi manta hamara desh duniya ka sabse mahaan desh hai … lekin yeh zaroor manta hoon … ki hum mein kabliyat hai, taqat hai, apne desh ko mahaan banane ki."

The film was written, produced and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
