Karan Johar is appreciated for his films as well as his chat show 'Koffee with Karan'. Thus keeping in mind his popularity on both the platforms, he was offered the most controversial TV show, Big Boss 8.  

The filmmaker was approached by the channel head for hosting the show, however due to 3 prominent reasons he turned down the offer.

1. Knowing Salman Khan's popularity, he felt the actor is irreplaceable.
2. Secondly a person who is an avid follower of this TV show should host it, thus filmmaker Farah Khan is an apt choice for it.
3. Lastly his mother, Hiroo Johar, who is the biggest fan of the show, told him she won't watch it, if he hosts it.

And ultimately he made his decision of not considering this offer, he said, "Can you imagine my own mother didn't want to see me hosting the show. How do you think Salman's other fans would have reacted."
