Nallappan, son of tribal leader 'Mambattiyan', on whose life an upcoming Tamil film of the same name, starring Prashanth in the lead role has moved a civil court in Chennai seeking a stay on its release.
Hearing his plea, the judge directed the respondents to file their counter affidavit by Monday. It is to be noted that the film is scheduled for release on 16th December and attempts are on to release it in 700 screens all over the world.
In his petition, Nallappan said that his father had fought for the justice of tribals. 'While I understood that the filmmakers were trying to portray different fictitious versions of my father's life, I am apprehensive that the projected image would distort the facts', he said.
'Mambattiyan', also starring Meera Jasmine, Prakash Raj, Vadivelu and Mumaith Khan in other pivotal roles, is a remake of the 1983 Tamil blockbuster of the same title that starred Thiagarajan (who has now directed the new version) and Saritha. Its music is by Thaman, with lyrics written by N.A Muthukumar and Annamalai.
