Adele: I'm not a legend

8th August 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Adele doesn't thinks she's an "all-time legend" like some singers.

The British star has been enjoying career success lately, thanks to the release of her second album 21. It's been a hit in her native country as well as in America, but Adele hasn't let the positive comments about her work go to her head. She still doesn't think she's that talented and plans to keep working to hone her voice.

"I don't rate my voice in that sense. The singers I listen to and who inspire me are all-time greats and legends," she is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun.

The star looks to blues and soul singers from bygone times for inspiration. She enjoys listening to older musical legends as they motivate her to work hard to achieve to mirror their success.

"I don't even consider myself a singer. My interpretation of a singer is Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday," she explained.

Adele is already thinking about what direction her next LP will take. She was inspired by country and blues music while travelling in America and plans to take inspiration from those musical forms while penning new tracks.

"I was exposed to a lot of country, rockabilly and bluegrass because I was touring for such a long time," she previously said. "The melodies and to-the-point lyrics I have found in a lot of American styles of music is definitely something I'm going to be pursuing heavily from now on." (C) Cover Media
