A sequel to Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Chandramukhi' is being planned since a very long time and Thala Ajith Kumar has been finalized as the lead in the film. In fact, the idea has been doing rounds ever since the original film hit the screens, in 2005 and turned out to be a grand success.

Now, things seem to be falling in place, as far as this 'mega' project is concerned.

"P. Vasu, who created the original version of the film, will be the director for the sequel, as well", revealed sources. 

P. Vasu said, "Rajini was initially approached to play the lead role in 'Chandramukhi 2'. However, since he is busy with other commitments, Ajith has now been approached and finalized".

Ajith and P. Vasu have worked together in 'Paramasivan' and hence, they share a very good rapport.

"If things go as expected the film will hit the floors very soon", sources concluded.
