Akki's new still from Gold makes us feel slavery

20th June 2018

The makers of Akshay Kumar's period drama 'Gold' have unleashed a brand new still from the film and we actually feel the moment of slavery as Akki sits on the bench with the British flag behind and the selflessness. This Reema Kagti directorial takes us back in time when our sportsmen played for the British rulers but had the heart of India, a true tribute to the legends who contributed to fighting to play for the free nation.

Moreover, Akshay essays the role of a Bengali hockey player, Tapan Das, who wants to win an Olympic Gold in hockey for independent India, not British India. Excel Entertainment's official twitter handle shared the still and captioned it, "15th August, 1936- Berlin Olympics. Uss din Tapan Das ko pata chala ki apna desh ghulam ho, toh kaisa lagta hai. #Gold@akshaykumar @FarOutAkhtar @ritesh_sid @kagtireema @Roymouni @kapoorkkunal @TheAmitSadh @ItsVineetSingh @SunnyK0 @SachinJigarLive."

Meanwhile, specifying the thoughts that the film is not a biopic but set against the backdrop of a real-life event, producer Ritesh Sidhwani had earlier told PTI, "It is not a biopic. It is a completely fictional story but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports... about hockey. It is not based on any character."

'Gold' also features Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Mouni Roy in key roles and will hit the screens on August 15. It marks the Bollywood debut of Naagin fame actress Mouni.
