(Cover) - EN Movies - Alex Pettyfer has landed the lead role in Steven Soderberghs Magic Mike.

The 21-year-old British actor will play a young stripper in the movie which is based on Channing Tatums pre-Hollywood life.

Channing, who entered the world of stripping when he was 19, will appear as his older mentor, Mike, in the upcoming movie.

Nick Wechsler is producing with Gregory Jacobs and Reid Carolin who is writing the script.

Channing pitched the idea for the movie to Soderbergh directly. The filmmaker has previously called it one of the best ideas Ive ever heard for a movie.

Meanwhile, Alex is in talks to appear alongside Matthew Goode in Pierre Morels upcoming action thriller Overdrive.

Variety reports both actors will appear as a pair of handsome and adventurous brothers, known for being high-profile car thieves, who travel to the South of France looking for new challenges and come across a tough local crime boss.

Alex recently starred in I Am Number Four and Beastly alongside Vanessa Hudgens and will appear opposite Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in the film In Time later this year. (C) Cover Media
