Alice Cooper to join Hall of Fame

15th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Alice Cooper and Neil Diamond will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.

The list of successful acts, which also includes Darlene Love and Dr. John, were selected from a group of 15 nominees who released their debut album or single at least 25 years ago. Every year The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation chooses the artists it deems the most influential to enter the Hall of Fame.

The ceremony to induct the latest group of musicians will take place in New York on March 14 2011.

Alice is thrilled to have been honoured and believes he deserves the recognition. The 62-year-old rocker knew he would make it into the Hall of Fame one day and is looking forward to the ceremony.

I've always felt the same way about this whole thing. I kind of sat back and said, 'It will happen eventually, he told Billboard.com. "It did get to be kind of a joke, not being nominated. So now that it's a reality, it's a different take on it. Now I sit there and go, 'Wow. Wow! We've got to really get up and play, and assume the position of being in the Hall of Fame.' It'll be great."

Those who failed to make it this year include rockers Bon Jovi, rapper LL Cool J, hip-hop group Beastie Boys and disco star Donna Summer. (C) Cover Media
