(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amanda Seyfried says Meryl Streep has competition when it comes to role models.

The 25-year-old actress starred alongside the award-winning actress in 2008 musical feature film Mamma Mia!. Amanda says working alongside the respected actress was a dream come true, and is constantly inspired by the talented star.

She has revealed however, that since her career has flourished, Meryl has a fight on her hands to continue being the only actress that Amanda looks up to.

Oh my gosh, I cant believe the roles that shes doing. She keeps surprising me. Its really beautiful, she said in an interview with BBC Breakfast. Since Ive worked with her I have these bowl full of role models, Julie Christie, Julianne Moore, theyve all been so unbelievably supportive and wonderful and inspiring. Im just really lucky. Its not just Meryl anymore. Shes got some competition!

I had the most fun on Mamma Mia! - it was like a dream come true.

The blonde beauty is currently starring in the upcoming dark fantasy film Red Riding Hood. She plays Valerie, a girl who upsets her family by falling for an orphaned woodcutter. The film - which is based on one of the worlds most-loved fairytales - is set in a medieval village that is terrorised by a werewolf and is directed by Catherine Hardwicke.

The stunning star says she never considered playing the part of Red Riding Hood as she was spooked by its dark connotations.

I never really dreamed of being Red Riding Hood. I dreamed of being Cinderella. Red Riding Hood seemed too scary, she said.

Amanda says the film has taken the classic fairytale elements and played on its twisted roots. The Hollywood star says there are a number of interesting undertones in the film that audiences should look out for.

I think the original version of every fairytale is meant to be so much darker. Its been sanitised I think. We took it [Red Riding Hood] back to its roots. There is lots of symbolism, sexual undertones, and twisted ideas. I think its still a bit of a cautionary tale, it deals with fear and following your heart, she added. (C) Cover Media
