Amy Adams in final talks for Muppet movie

15th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Adams is set to play the female lead in The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made.

The Hollywood star was first linked to the role earlier this month, when it was reported she was considering it along with two other parts. She is now said to have settled on the film, and is in final negotiations over her contract.

Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are also in talks for the release, which will be directed by James Bobin. Jason Segel will play the male lead, with Amy taking the part of his girlfriend.

The Muppets are a group of puppets, including famous characters Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Gonzo the Great. They have appeared on both the small and big screens in the past.

The new film will see Jasons character desperate to help save a Hollywood film studio. He becomes convinced the only way to do so is to get the Muppets to reunite and stage a show, so sets about gathering them up with the help of Amys character.

Segel wrote the script for the movie, along with Nick Stoller, who also penned 2010s Get Him to the Greek. The film is due for release next year. (C) Cover Media
