The first installment of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap's ambitious film 'Gangs of Wasseypur' has yet again put the spotlight on the parallel cinema that proves the worth of qualitative cinema. The film that has been released partially on a whole is made on 18.40 crore budget and with the second part yet to release, the film has a great chance to outshine its current record. 

The film has already garnered its production cost with an astounding box office collection and music rights, and this has given the team the much needed relief and enthusiasm to keep up the good work. 

"We thought that people liked the film, but in the first three days, we didn't collect so much. But even that collection has been the biggest of my life," Kashyap said at the success party of the film. 

Though many films in recent times have crossed the 100 crore benchmark, he exclaims that expecting so much is too much for him "Rs.100 crore is too much of an expectation. If it happens, it is good. I want that whoever has worked in the film should earn a lot of money. The film had everything going against it - the two parts, one part being an incomplete story, the kind of language and adult certificate. People see the negative points more. So, even if we don't cross Rs.100 crore, it is fine with us," said a humble Anurag who added that he will carry forward the momentum to make such films in future. 

"I have got acceptance after a long time and I am happy. I always wanted to get accepted for the films I make. A lot of directors, who I think very high of, have called me (to congratulate). Bachchan saab also (Amitabh Bachchan) tweeted (praising the film). It made so much of a difference. A lot of things have happened with the film. I also got the freedom to make a film which I believe in," said Kashyap.
