(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Arcade Fire have compared making music together to dancing around your best friends.
The indie band features husband and wife duo Win Butler and Rgine Chassagne, as well as members Will Butler, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury, Jeremy Gara and Sarah Neufeld.
Having so many band members allows for a truly eclectic sound to be achieved, and the group admit getting together and jamming is a truly bonding experience for them. They have forged a strong sense of identity, and feel they can truly let themselves go around each other.
"It's like how it's easier to dance around your best friends," Win explained in an interview with British newspaper The Guardian.
"You get a group of people together and they either keep each other down or enable each other to cut loose. I think we give each other permission to lose ourselves in the music."
Arcade Fires lyrics are famed for being politically engaged, although Win insists sometimes the songs are less serious. In songs such as Month of May and Rococo the lyrics may appear to critique the youth of today, but Win says the band havent got massive intentions of causing a stir.
"Half the time we're talking to ourselves," he confessed. "It isn't like the old person saying, 'Kids these days, what's wrong with them? We used to be so much better.'" (C) Cover Media
