Arnold Schwarzenegger: Sport focuses the mind

18th August 2012

Arnold Schwarzenegger says he learnt life lessons through sport.

The star believes many principles he has today are the result of things he remembered when playing various sports activities at school. The action hero is passionate about promoting sport for today's youth as a foundation in forming their morals, beliefs and attitude.

"A lot of lessons can be learnt from sport," Arnold said to Cover Media at the London press conference of The Expendables 2. "You learn how to get back up when you fall. I remember once I could not lift 100 pounds weight but I kept trying and I did eventually. It is the same with my politics. When people say to me a policy has failed I say 'no'. I think if I did it with being able to lift 100 pounds I can do anything."

To overcome his seemingly impossible challenge of lifting 100 pounds Arnold said he maintained a focus. He believes having clear goals will help you achieve what you want from life.

"No matter what you do in life you have to have vision," Arnold advised. "You must have a goal and a vision of yourself and how you want to be."
