(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter Katherine has spoken out about her parents splitting up after 25 years of marriage.
The 21-year-old college student told Harper's Bazaar that she believes "everything happens for a reason" but admitted that it has been a difficult time for her.
Katherine is the eldest child of Arnold and Maria Shriver and says she is trying to be philosophical about the very public split.
Her parents ended their marriage when it was revealed that the former California governor fathered a child with the family's former housekeeper 14 years ago and had kept the affair quiet.
"I really do believe everything happens for a reason," Katherine said. "A lot of the time, it's hard to understand in the moment why things are happening, but I really do think that. I also like to think God doesn't really give you anything you can't handle."
Katherine says that her parents tried to shield her and her siblings from the spotlight when they were growing up but the scandal has brought some unwanted attention and she even considered altering her famous last name.
"I thought of changing it because, especially for dating, it's impossible," she shared. "It's something I deal with every day, and I'm hyperconscious about it.
"When I got to college people much more guys than girls because girls don't give a c**p about bodybuilding were coming up to me, and it would automatically jump to a conversation about my dad and weightlifting or how to do a bicep curl.
"It's like, Do you want to date my father, or do you want to date me? Like, I can arrange that for you.'"
Arnold and Maria have officially filed for divorce and are said to be dividing up their $400 million fortune before their split is finalised. (C) Cover Media
