(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gavin DeGraw has spoken out for the first time since being attacked in New York City on Monday.
The singer was discharged from hospital on Tuesday and posted a message of thanks on his Twitter page.
Gavin did not give much detail about what happened to him and is seemingly trying to come to terms with his ordeal.
"Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love you guys," he wrote. (sic)
"Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here."
The 34-year-old musician, best known for his hits including Chariot and Follow Through, was attacked by a "pack of thugs" at around 4.30am in the early hours of Monday morning.
As he stumbled away the singer-songwriter was reportedly then hit by a taxi and taken by ambulance to the emergency room.
Gavin suffered from a "concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises" his spokesperson confirmed.
He has been touring this summer with Maroon 5 and Train who sent him get well soon wishes.
Gavin's fifth album, Sweeter, is due for release next month. (C) Cover Media
