Ashley Tisdale believes "communication is so key" to maintaining happy relationships.

The 26-year-old Hellcats actress and her beau music video director Scott Speer began dating again recently after temporarily splitting last December.

Ashley credits their reunion to the open dialogue they share with one another.

"Communication is so key," she told People magazine. "Especially in this business, I'm always traveling and doing something else. So I think communication is the foundation of it all."

Ashley co-executive produced Bravo Network's new Miss Advised TV show.

The star appreciates Scott's support for all of her professional endeavours and can't wait to hear his thoughts on the programme that premiered this week.

"[I'm] super stoked," she gushed. "Scott hasn't seen [the show] yet. He'll see it [tonight] when everyone else sees it."

Ashley feels it's imperative to be open with others about what she's experiencing romantically.

"I give dating advice on a regular basis," she said. "It's not that I'm any expert, but it's always nice to share that with your friends. I'm very old-fashioned when it comes to dating, so I definitely wait for the guy to text me or call me."
