The famous dramatist-turned-actor-turned- politician S. Ve. Shekar's son, Ashwin, made his debut in films with 'Vegam', a film loosely based on the Hollywood thriller 'Cellular' followed by a romantic comedy titled 'Ninaivil Nindraval'. The young actor recently got engaged to Selvi Shruthi, a B. Tech graduate and daughter of Mr. Venkataraman and Mathangi from Gobichettipalayam.

The engagement ceremony was held on May 8th at G.R.T. Convention Centre. The most eminent personalities from politics and the film industry were present for the occasion which includes – Cho Ramaswamy, Congress leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan, Congress Youth leader Yuvaraja, actress Khushboo, director Sundar C, Poornima Bhagyaraj and many others.

The marriage is scheduled to be held on August 24th, at Mayor Ramanathan Chettiyar Hall.
